  1. #15 Alabama (1-0) @ #5 St John’s (1-0) (11 AM CT Saturday)

Easily the best game on the slate this weekend. Alabama goes to Madison Square Garden to take on Rick Pitino and #5 St John’s. The Red Storm are coming off a huge 108-74 victory over Quinnipiac on opening night. Alabama had a nice win on opening night too, beating North Dakota by a score of 91-62. Alabama’s guard play should give them a shot to pull off the upset, Labaron Philon could be an All-American this year, and Houston Mallette looked good in the team’s first game. St John’s frontcourt could be too much to handle though, Dillon Mitchell looks ready for a breakout season, and Zuby Ejiofor could be the best big man in the country. Whichever team that comes out on top will get a huge win to bolster their NCAA tournament resume on week one of the season.

  1. #19 Kansas (1-0) @ #25 North Carolina (1-0) (6 PM CT Friday)

Another great game this weekend with tons of storylines. Two teams coming off disappointing seasons that both get a chance to prove that they do belong in the Top 25. Flory Bidunga looked outstanding for Kansas’ in their huge opening night victory over Green Bay. The duo of Bidunga and Darryn Peterso could be amongst the best in the nation. The Tar Heels also won big on opening night, with a 40-point win over Central Arkansas. Five-star freshman Caleb Wilson led the way with 22 points, and they also had four other players score in double-figures.

  1. #14 Arkansas (1-0) @ #22 Michigan State (1-0) (6 PM CT Saturday)

The third matchup between two ranked teams that goes down this weekend is when Arkansas goes to East Lansing to take on Tom Izzo and MSU. Arkansas’ scoring attack looked impressive in their 32-point victory over Southern on Monday night. They had three players score 20+ with Trevon Brazile, as well as both their star freshman, Darius Acuff and Meleek Thomas. Michigan State didn’t look super impressive in their 11-point win over Colgate on opening night. They led by just 4 points with 13 minutes left in the second half. Jeremy Fears 14 points and 10 assists were a bright spot.

  1. Washington (2-0) @ Baylor (1-0) (7:30 PM CT Sunday)

Maybe the most underrated game this week in my opinion, Washington goes to Baylor in a clash of two teams with NCAA tournament expectations. Washington already has two wins, both at home against Arkansas Pine-Bluff and Denver. The Huskies look like a great all-around team so far, as they had seven players score in double-figures against Denver. Freshman Hannes Steinbach has been impressive averaging 17 and 11 over those two games. This year’s Baylor team has a much different look this season, Tennessee transfer Cameron Carr had 28 points in their opening night win over UT Rio Grande Valley.  Five-star freshman Tounde Yessoufou also impressed with 24 points. We should learn a lot about both these teams on Sunday night.

  1. Georgetown (1-0) @ Maryland (1-0) (5 PM CT Friday)

Georgetown goes on the road to face Maryland in a very intriguing matchup. Both teams have very different rosters than they did last season. The Hoyas are led by Arizona transfer KJ Lewis who had 14 points in Georgetown’s 17-point win over Morgan State. This game is also the DeShawn Harris-Smith’s return to Maryland. He was a very highly-touted recruit and spent two years there before transferring to Georgetown. This game will also be the first real test that Buzz Williams will have as Maryland's new head coach. We should learn a lot about both these teams in this great matchup.

Other great games:

Providence vs Virginia Tech (NS) (3 PM Saturday)

Indiana vs Marquette (NS) (12 PM Sunday)

San Francisco @ Memphis (2 PM Saturday)

Oklahoma @ #21 Gonzaga (9:30 PM Saturday)

VCU vs Utah State (NS)(7 PM Friday)
