Georgia Tech is now entering year three of the Damon Stoudamire era. The Yellow Jackets were a middle-of-the-pack team in the ACC last year, finishing with a record of 10-10 and making an NIT appearance.
Projected Lineup
G Lamar Washington (Pacific transfer)
G Kam Craft (Miami (OH) transfer)
G Kowacie Reeves Jr
F Baye Ndongo
C Mouhamed Sylla
By far the biggest win of the offseason for this Georgia Tech program was retaining Baye Ndongo. He was an all-conference player last season, averaging 13.4 points per game along with 8.9 rebounds. Georgia Tech could have one of the best front courts in the conference next season. They got what could be a program-altering commitment when they landed four-star center Mouhamed Sylla. He's ranked as the 17th-best player in the class and the second-best center. The pairing of Sylla and Ndongo is going to be a problem for other ACC teams this season.
With that being said, the backcourt is a question mark after Naithan George transferred within the conference to Syracuse. They did land two solid transfers in Lamar Washington and Kam Craft. Washington has a great handle and a very good passer; the concern with him is the shooting ability, as he only connected on 29.3% of his three-point attempts last season. Kam Craft, who will play alongside him, is much better from deep, shooting 43.1% from beyond the arc last season. They also return Kowacie Reeves Jr for one last season. He started in all 32 games during the 2023-24 season, but only played in six games last year because of injury.
I do think that this Georgia Tech team has a chance to be on the tournament bubble this season. They're definitely not the deepest team in the conference, but the tandem of Sylla and Ndongo has the makings of something special, and the Washington and Craft backcourt duo could be decent.
Prediction: 9th in ACC
